Information for Coaches

Coaches Liability Insurance

A Skate Canada Professional Coaching Member is covered for liability provided they are only teaching Skate Canada programs on ice rented by a Skate Canada Club or Skating School and engaged by a Skate Canada Club or School.  The coach’s skaters are insured for accidents provided they are registered with Skate Canada and the Skate Canada Club or Skating School has either rented the ice or approved of the ice rental.

Skate Canada Professional Coaches are not covered for liability if they are coaching on ice that is not rented by a Skate Canada Club or Skating School or, on ice rented by the Skate Canada coach, skater or parent, that has not been recognized by a Skate Canada Club or Skating School.

In order to ensure that Skate Canada Professional Coaching Members are covered by the general liability insurance, the coach must complete the following form and have it signed by a Skate Canada Club Executive Member/Skating School Director. It is the coach’s responsibility to obtain the signatures from the Skate Canada Club Executive Member/Skating School Director prior to the start of any “extra” on-ice sessions.  The Coach and Club/Skating School are also required to keep a copy of this form on file.
