Canada’s National Learn to Skate Program

**5 week session – 8:00-8:50 pm (Adults only) Nichols Arena – starts on May 8th**

  • 5-week CanSkate/Learn to Skate Program (adults 18 & over) at Nichols Arena, starting May 8th
  • Thursday evenings: 8:00-8:50 pm – starting May 8th
  • Professional coaches
  • Program teaches all basic skating technique
  • Program designed by Skate Canada to provide the optimal foundation for types of on-ice skating needs
  • Emphasis on having fun
  • The program convenor will provide a list of Professional Coaches who are available for private lessons in addition to the group lessons provided
  • This program will focus on fun and continuous movement. Skaters will be placed into groups depending on skating ability.
  • Skills will be assessed on a daily basic, and badges will be awarded when all the skills at a particular level (stage) have been achieved.
  • It is highly recommended that adult skaters wear helmets

Important Information

The membership fee includes a free strocking lesson at the beginning of each session conducted by a certified Skate Canada Coach. There are Free Skate and Dance sessions with all Skare Canada dances played. Group lessons are available from our coaches at a fee payable to the coach at the time of the lesson. 

Protective Equipment such as headgear, knee pads and wrist guards are strongly recommended for beginner skaters.
Free Parking is available at all times in the parking lot in front of the arena entrance and also in the evening only in the elborne college lot across western road.
Skate Canada Fee a $30.00 registration fee per skating year is assessed to all members of skate canada clubs. this fee helps to cover skate canada programs, administrative costs, as well as financial help for competitive skaters at all levels.There is also an insurance benefit.

The competition schedule has been posted on the section web site - www.skating-wos.on.ca. It is the competitors responsibility to down load the announcement, read carefully,and mail or courier the completed entry form to the registrar of the competition. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY COMPETITION IN THE 2008-2009 SEASON. All completed entry forms must be signed by the club president, Steve Komarnicky, or test chair Chantalle Desbiens. They will not sign blank entry forms.
