StarSkate Competition Simulation

What:  A simulation event for skaters that have prepared solos that may be competing this winter season. Skaters must speak to their coach to see if they are ready for this event.

When:  Friday December 2, 2016, 6:45 - 8:35 pm

Where: Nichols Arena 'C' Pad

Skater Schedule: download HERE

What is a Simulation?

A Simulation is run just like a competition. The goal is to give constructive feedback on skaters' performances before they start their competition season, or before they try a test.

All skater entries must are submitted by their Base coach. Your coach will determine if participation in this event will be of benefit to you. Skaters will receive the exact time/flight that they will be skating for the day of the simulation via e-mail confirmation before the day of the simulation.

There will be an official warmup time for each group of skaters, and skaters will perform just like they are at a competition/test day.

A skater's coach, or coaching assistant designated by the base coach, MUST be in attendance. The judge/technical specialist will take a brief moment after each skate on the ice with the skater/coach and go over feedback regarding their program.

Instructions for skaters:

If more feedback is required the panel will be happy to meet with the coach/skater after all simulations are finished in the judges room.

  • Skaters are to arrive 1 hour prior to their posted warm up time in accordance with competition guidelines.
  • Skaters are required to register their CD and themselves at the skater registration table and report to their dressing room.  Please pick up CD’s when leaving.  Music is registered by CD at competition so we will not be using the tablet.  Skaters are encouraged to stay and cheer on other skaters performing.  Please make sure full name and London Skating Club is written on CD.
  • Skaters are asked to wear competition attire, and have hair and makeup done as if it’s a real competition.  Clean skates, tights with no holes.
  • Parents are not allowed in the dressing room area, only coaches/skaters.  If skates need to be tied, parent’s will have to tie them in the lobby.  Skate bags must be in dressing room.  Skaters are asked to remain in the dressing rooms until coach arrives or directs them otherwise.
  • Skaters are reminded to bring skipping rope, running shoes, Kleenex, finger gloves, water,  and either cardigan (zip or buttons) no hoddies for warm up IF your coach allows them to be worn.  Check with your base coach on this please!   Also bring extra makeup and hairspray for touch ups.
  • Skaters will receive feedback immediately following their skate with their coach as well.  This will be very brief at the board,  and IF the coach would like more feedback, the judging panel is more than happy to speak with them following the simulation in the judges room.
  • Don’t forget to pick up your music on the way out.

Parents, grandparents, neighbours and friends are encouraged to come and watch their skater as we want this to be just like a real competition. All particpants will be encouraged to stay and cheer on all skaters participating.

Once again, all skater registrations went through their Base coach to see if they are ready for this event.
