Junior Olympics! 

A Year end celebration of skating for our CanSkaters CanSkaters,

Pre-Preliminary & Preliminary StarSkaters

  • This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family to watch you skate as you have practiced long and hard all winter!
  • All skaters will be recognized for their achievements this year with a medal and a certificate.
  • Skaters will be grouped according to their levels, and will be assessed according to badge standards by LSC Coaches and Program Assistants.
  • Skater confirmations with more information and time of flight competition will be given to all skaters participating two weeks prior to the event date.  Skaters will be assigned a flight and specific skating time.  Skaters will be on the ice a maximum of 20-30 minutes.
  • Skaters will need to arrive at the arena 30 minutes before their scheduled flight time, to sign in and put on skates (exact times will be sent with confirmations two weeks prior to event). Skaters will leave after skating and receiving award certificates and medals so they won’t be at the rink for the whole time.
  • There will be podium presentations for various participants throughout the event.
  • A photographer and flowers will be on hand, for a fee, if you wish to capture your special moments or add to your special day.
  • Check out the special demonstration skates by some of our club synchronized skating teams and soloists during the event!

Registration Closed

No late registrations will be accepted, in order to get schedules and confirmations done in ample time for our skaters and their families.

Third Annual Social Ice Dance Event

The London Skating Club is pleased to announce its 3nd Annual Social Ice Dance Event, Sunday March 8th.  Fee is $20 per person. Out of club skaters welcome - must be registered with Skate Canada.

All dancers welcome from the Adult Sessions, Adult Synchro, STARSkate skaters wanting to dance. NOTE no age limit, no test limit. We will play the dances from Preliminary to Diamond in a shuffled order.

Adults wanting to warm-up on the regular dance session from 12:15 to 1:35 are welcome. Guest fees are $25 for the whole session payable by cheque to the London Skating Club.

Please advise Charlotte McLean at charlotteskate@rogers.com, that you are coming so that we have enough refreshments.

Home of the 2010, 2013 & 2014 Intermediate National Champions!!

 

We will be holding a Beginner Level Workshop & Open House for all current Beginner Level skaters as well as any skaters in our CanSkate or StarSkate program who would like to come and try out one free session to see if the London Skating Club’s Synchronized Skating program would be of any interest to you for our 2016-2017 season!

Our Beginner Level teams for the 2016-2017 season will practice 1 hour a week. Our Season runs from September to the end of March and for the 2016-2017 season plan to attend 2-3 compeitions!!
Skaters must currently be registered in a CanSkate (Stage 3 or higher) or Preliminary StarSkate program and must have a currrent Skate Canada Number. The ages of our skaters range from 4 to 12 years of age. All out of club members are welcome!!

Holiday Pop Concert Ice Show & Silent Auction

The London Skating Club Holiday Pop Concert Ice Show will showcase our skating talents to the London Community on Friday, December 18, 2015@ 6:00 pm, at Earl Nichols Arena, “A” Pad,

Proceeds from the event will support skaters at the London Skating Club, as well as to “Mitchell’s Jar of Hope”, in support of Muscular Dystrophy research through Jesse’s Journey & the London & Region Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

This year we present our “Holiday Pop Concert Ice Show” in loving memory of Mary Burdon. Mary was a volunteer of the Club for over 62 years before her passing earlier in the year.

The show begins at 6:00 pm, and silent auction items will be available for viewing in the lobby outside 'A' pad before and during the show.

  A family skate will follow the Holiday Pop Concert

In conjunction with Holiday Pop Concert and Silent Auction, the London Skating Club would like to invite members and their families/friends for a FREE Family Skating session at Earl Nichols Arena "A" pad immediately following the skating show:

  • A maximum of 90 skaters will be allowed on the ice at one time, first come first served, in accordance with Skate Canada insurance rules.
  • No hockey sticks or strollers are permitted on the ice
  • All participants must be wearing skates - no boots or shoes.
  • Any participant who is not a member of Skate Canada must wear a CSA approved hockey helmet regardless of their skating ability.
  • The Skate Canada Helmet Policy applies to all members of Skate Canada (helmets required until completion of CanSkate Stage 5).
  • For insurance purposes, all participants will be required to sign in before going on the ice giving their full name of family members/friend attending, contact information, Date of Birth and Name and Date of the event attended (this information will be held by the London Skating Club only and available to Skate Canada should they request it)

March Break H.O.M.E. Region Skater Development Seminars

Your H.O.M.E. Region is hosting two Western Ontario section Skater Development Seminars during the March Break. The Seminar will be held on Tuesday, March 17 2015 in London or Wednesday March 18, 2015 in Ingersoll.

TIME: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (8:30 am -Registration starts)

COST: $25.00 ***On-Line Registration this year***

For a fun, motivational, and enjoyable learning experience! These seminars are open to any skater in the Region. Skaters participate in both on ice and off-ice training sessions during the day-long seminars. Each region determines the level of the seminar to be held in their region.

Registration will begin at 8:30 am with the seminar beginning at 9:00 am promptly.

Skaters are asked to bring their own bag lunch, running shoes and bottled water. Skaters will participate in both on and off-ice training sessions during the day.

On Ice Sessions: Include stroking, jumps/ spins, field moves, creative exercises and choreography.

Off Ice Sessions: We stress the importance of proper warm ups, flexibility & stretching. Jump technique and choreography may also be included.

Presenters: Will be 3 or 4 of the coaches from the WO ‘Coaching Resource Team’

  • All skaters working on their Pre-Preliminary (STAR 2) through Senior Bronze Freeskate Level are welcome to attend. Skaters will be divided according to their level of free skate.

  • We must have at least 30 skaters to conduct our seminar, with a maximum of 80 skaters. Therefore, please registerearly to enable your skater to participate. Application deadline is March 11, 2015

Synchronicity Juvenile Skates at Wellspring Free Skate - February 7

The London Skating Club’s Synchronicity Juvenile team will be performing during Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, February 7th, which begin at 1:00 pm at Victoria Park in London as Wellspring London & Region will be hosting a free skate from 1-3 to help raise awareness for various kinds of cancer.

Come out and cheer on the London Skating Club and join Wellspring to raise awareness while you enjoy skating with family and friends.

Silverthorne Competition - Volunteers Needed

LONDON SKATING CLUB NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The London Skating Club is responsible for staffing the skater registration table and the music table at the Dennis Silverthorne Memorial Invitational Competition at the Woodstock District Community Complex - Southwood Arena on Feb 6, 7 & 8th and we need your help to do this.

Two mature volunteers are required for a 5 hour shift to sign in skaters at the registration table. Three volunteers are needed to sign skaters music in and out at the music table. Volunteers will receive a $5.00/hr credit towards their child’s skating. Food will be provided to volunteers during their shift. Please dress warmly. Great way to meet other London Skating Club parents & learn more about the sport. No experience necessary.

Don’t miss this oppurtunity to be part of our great organization.

If you are interested in participating in this volunteer opportunity, please register for a shift as soon as possible.

*Five volunteers needed for each shift*, as follows

  • Friday Feb 6th: 12:00pm-5:00pm, 5:00pm-10:00pm

Synchronicity would like to invite everyone to their annual Kick - Off Gala.

The London Skating Club is home to 9 Synchronized Skating teams who will be showcasing their programs for the 2014 - 2015 skating season.

Admission is $4.00 / person or $2.00 with a donation to London Food Bank or Coats for Kids.

We are asking that spectators bring a non-perishable donation for the London Food Bank &/or a coat donation for "Coats for Kids".

StarSkate Competition Simulation

A simulation event for skaters that have prepared solos that may be competing this winter season. Skaters must speak to their coach to see if they are ready for this event.  The idea is to give constructive feedback on skaters' performances before they start their competition season.

Electronics Recycling

- to benefit Synchronicity Intermediate Skating Team

The Synchronicity Intermediate synchronized skating team is hosting an electronics recycling event to raise money for our team.

Clean out your basements with all your unwanted electronics and it will be recycled responsibly. We accept Computers, Cell Phones, iPods, Cameras/Camcorders, Keyboards & Mice, TVs, Monitors, Printers, and more. Also, appliances (except refrigerator/freezers) and household batteries. If it has a cord or a battery, we'll take it!

Information/Registration Night

The London Skating Club's CanSkate learn to skate program is coming to Argyle Arena, Monday evenings @ 5pm, beginning September 29th!  This is a new program, in addition to the learn to skate, power skating, figure skating and adult skating programs previously offered at Nichols arena.

Questions about our learn to skate program? Wondering which program is right for you? Come on out to our information session and registration night at the East London Branch Library, and get your questions answered by London Skating Club volunteers!  Register for our classes in person, or online.
